Jacob W Ehrhard was born in Springfield, Illinois, but spent most of his childhood outside of St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Lutheran grade school at Grace Chapel Lutheran in Bellefontaine Neighbors, and high school at Lutheran High School North in St. Louis. He briefly studied engineering at Washington University in St. Louis before transferring to Concordia University – River Forest, Illinois to pursue a career as a Lutheran school teacher. It was at Concordia that he first seriously considered becoming a pastor, and upon graduation he enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary – Fort Wayne, Indiana. In the fall of 2016, he will begin a Doctor of Ministry program at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, with an emphasis in homiletics.
While at River Forest, Pastor Ehrhard met his wife, Gretal. They were married in 2005. Pastor and Gretal have one dog, Gus, and are in the process of adopting a child.
Before coming to Trinity, Pastor Ehrhard served Emmanuel Lutheran Church – Dwight, Illinois from July 2007-August 2013 as the Associate Pastor of Education and Evangelism.
Pastor Ehrhard enjoys teaching Luther’s catechisms, singing in choirs, culinary adventures, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball in October.
Pastor Ehrhard served as Circuit Counselor of Northern Illinois Circuit S28 for three years. He was elected as pastoral delegate to synod conventions in 2010 and 2016. He also served as the chair of Floor Committee 1 on Theology and Church Relations at the 2009 Northern Illinois District Convention.
Pastor Ehrhard has been a guest the KFUO shows Concord Matters and His Time. He has been a speaker for the Lutheran youth organization Higher Things, and writes for their online and print publications. In 2017, he will travel to Germany and the Czech Republic with a choir composed of alumni from the select choirs of our two LCMS seminaries to celebrate the 5ooth anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation.
